The three Bradford clubs in the Airedale Athletics Partnership are offering complementary iniatives to tie in with the new school year.
Chris Hainsworth, from Bradford Airedale, said: "We're expecting a boom in the years leading up to the London Olympics but want to put in place an infrastructure to cater for newcomers and welcome them."
Eccleshill Road Runners (catering for East Bradford) are starting an active family group, aimed at young and old alike and of any ability, with the emphasis on grown-ups and children exercising together.
Adults can attend by themselves and join in with the senior section straight away or find their feet with Eccleshill's beginners' group. Chil-dren can attend by themselves but must be over eight years old and have an adult's permission.
The weekly sessions start on Friday (7pm) at Cavendish Road.
Terry Maddocks, from Eccleshill RR, added: "It doesn't matter what level of fitness you're at as we will have enough coaches to split the group into different abilities if required. If anyone needs to walk, we walk, it's as simple as that."
Bradford Airedale (catering for central and southern Bradford) have established a youth development officer to run school-based activities, together with city-wide sessions for under-18s at Horsfall track on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. These cater for youngsters keen to develop skills in cross-country or track and field events.
St Bede's AC (catering for north Bradford and Airedale) are introducing a structured training programme for all its members. Each week, on alternating Tuesday or Thursday evenings, an intensive session is planned, whether hill reps, track work, monthly time trials, interval training or fartleks (alternating paced running).
Members of each club can participate in any of the evening events.
Supervised sessions are:
Mondays: Fitness First, Victoria Road, Eccleshill - 7pm - all abilities
