From the Telegraph & Argus, first published Friday 6th May 2005.

The final silverware of the season was decided last Friday at Cougar Park when Premier Division Cup & Supplementry Cup winners New Variety Club attempted to complete a cup treble against Division One side Cavendish Hotel.

Cavendish had already taken two Premier Division scalps to their on their way to the final and leading scorer Leroy Hepworth capitalised on a mistake by Variety keeper Neil Ackroyd to give his side the lead.

Dave Bennett equalised with an overhead kick and captain Daz Holmes headed in from a corner to give Variety a 2-1 lead at the break.

Dave Bennett scored again to extend Variety's lead before Jon Emmott pulled one back for Cavendish to make it 3-2. John Baker restored a two-goal advantage for the Premier Division side but Robert Beck scored for Cavendish to reduce the deficit to 4-3.

New Variety Club's superior fitness and technical ability was ever more obvious as Cavendish tired, Adam Ackroyd scored to make it 5-3 before man of the match Liam Jeffrey rounded off the scoring. Final score 6-3.
