Keighley Cats 6, Bradford Thunderbirds 34 - Bradford Thunderbirds lived up to their name and scored within 10 minutes of the kick-off against Keighley Albion Cats. This woke Keighley with a start and made them roll up their sleeves an produce some hard work. Tackling was led by Sarah Cartwright who seemed to relish her new position of second row. Angie Pickard led Keighley's attack and made good ground.
A scrum was given against Bradford deep in Keighley's half and Laura Ackroyd found Saima Hussain out wide and in cool fashion she out-ran the pursuing Thunderbirds fullback and scored a neat try under the posts which was converted by Laura Ackroyd to level the scores.
The deadlock was broken by a seemingly unstoppable Lisa Mac, with a converted try, but Keighley tackled relentlessly with Tracey Lynch putting in an awesome performance. Ten minutes before half time a serious shoulder injury to a Bradford player resulted in a break in play of over 40 minutes.
When the game re-started the weather had deteriorated even further the faster and stronger Bradford team pushed Keighley to limit, eventually scoring again. More tries followed and Keighley's hopes of reaching the final slipped away.
