Soccer: Junior round-up

Keighley Shamrocks Under-10s beat Eccleshill 9-0 after getting off to a flying start with two goals from Jackson Rouse and one from Lewis Wrathall in the opening minutes. Before half time Wrathall had got his second, Rouse completed his hat-trick, and Danny Roberts had also added to the score. In the second half Eccleshill fought bravely but were unable to find the back of the net. Two further goals from Rouse and one from Jack Emmett sealed the win. Shammies new signing Ayrton Armstrong played well in his debut game.

Keighley Shamrocks Under-12s B cruised to an 11-1 win against Bingley, opening the scoring after five minutes when Liam Fothergill headed home. A defensive error let Bingley equalise before Jonny Greenwood scored two for Shamrocks, Joe Southern, Chris Lynch and Jack Bilney added further goals in the first half. In the second half there were goals from Adam Williams, Robert Linden, Mathew Craven (2) and Jonny Greenwood. Robert Linden took the man of the match award and Matthew Baines in defence took the manager's award. There were also good performances from Ryan Turnbull and Danny Holmes in defence.

Keighley Shamrocks Under-15s came from 1 0 down to beat Eccleshill 4 1. Goals were scored by Matthew Wilson (2), Micheal Binns and man of the Match Glen Walbank. Richard McClough had another outstanding match.

Silsden Under-10s B lost 1-0 to a strong Otley side despite having some excellent chances, Silsden found it hard to beat the Otley keeper. Man of the match Jed Cooper came closest to equalising for Silsden but could not find the back of the net. Billy Davis and Tom Hicky defended well.

Oakworth Under-8s A played Sutton and had all the early pressure without creating many clear cut chances. When they did they found the Sutton keeper in excellent form. Sutton took the lead mid way through the first half and Oaks found it difficult to break down the home defence but equalised with a couple of minutes to go through an own goal. This still left time for Sutton to regain the lead in the final minute. However, Oaks never gave up and managed an equaliser through a great Sam Nettleton shot. Oli Huck and Ben Reeve had excellent games in midfield.

Oaks Under 8s B had all the pressure in their game with Sutton. Declan McClaren scored after a superb run and cross by Bradley Scrutton. Despite creating a number of chances Oaks could not increase their lead. Lauren Adams, Thomas Brown and Sol Wright all went close with the Sutton keeper making some great saves. Chandler Hughes and Declan McClaren were outstanding for Oaks.

Oakworth Under-7s A slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Burley after going behind to a first half hat-trick.

After half time Oaks got back into the game when Tom Bradley scored but good Burley keeping denied them further goals. Tom Emsley was man of the match.

Oakworth Under-7s B played out a 0-0 draw with Burley. Jordan Barclay had the best chance of the game in the second half and Jack Brown was man of the match.

Silsden Under 9's A faced a tough away game against Oakworth but got off to a great start when David Hunt scored in the first 10 minutes after good work from James Hitch. In the second half Luke Barker and Jack Leach began to boss the midfield and created enough for Hunt to complete his hat-trick. Silsden conceded a last-minute own goal to make the final score 3-1 with Josh Brown man of the match.

Silsden Under 9's B were away to Oakworth B and after a goalless first half .both teams had chances to win but in the end the two goalkeepers stopped everything. Laurence Wildman was named man of the match as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Silsden Under-7s took an early grip on their game with Bingley as Ceri Holland scored the opening goal and Ben Metcalfe increased their lead. Bingley came into the game in the second half but Charlie Pociecha in defence dealt with any threat. Tommy Snowden scored his first goal for the club, and Ethan Sanderson completed a 4-0 victory. Ben Metcalfe was man of the match.

Silsden Under-8s A were 2-0 up at half time away at Bradford Tigers thanks to goals from Dominic Mortimer and Euan Sessford. Second half goals from Sessford and George Guest made it 4-0 before the home side scored a tap-in consolation goal.

Silsden Under-8s B earned draw at Bradford Tigers after Josh Jordan gave them a 1-0 lead. A defensive mix-up handed Bradford an equaliser but man of the match Harry McGowan put them ahead again. A long range shot from the Tigers gave them a share of the points in the 2-2 draw.

Long Lee Under-9s continued their winning streak with a 5-1 victory over Sutton, after several missed chances Long Lee's luck changed and Declan Burke scored twice. Sutton pulled one back just before half time. In the second half Josh Holt scored a sunning goal from a corner. Jack O'Keefe and Sam Hallas scored late in the game to complete a convincing win. Ben Addison was man of the match for a great display in midfield.

Long Lee Under-8s travelled to Queensbury on Sunday morning, returning home with all three points after a hard-earned victory. Trailing 1-0 at half time, a strong second half midfield display from Lewis Robinson, Josh Ferguson and Ben Sutcliffe turned the tide, along with crucial saves from Charlie Shimmin. Lewis Robinson equalising before further goals from Connor Milligan and a pile driver for Josh Ferguson sealed the 3-1 victory.

Long Lee Under-7s enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Shipley Panthers with Reece Webb scoring two superb goals. Thomas Baker added the third and there was excellent defence from Joshua Kelly and Kieran Baxter. There were also good skills shown by Keann Shaw, Ben Stowell and Niall Walsh. The win followed the previous weeks 2-1 victory over Bingley.
