Langley on a hot streak!

From the Telegraph & Argus, first published Friday 1st Aug 2003.

Jamie Langley bagged the first try of his Super League career this week - and saved himself a great deal of embarrassment.

The 19-year-old back-rower crossed in the 62nd minute of Wednesday's demolition of London to break his scoring duck in a superb performance.

And by getting his name on the scoresheet, the England Academy skipper avoided the ignominy of the traditional end-of-season naked run at Odsal for those who fail to cross the whitewash during the Super League campaign.

"It is nice to get off the mark," said Langley. "Lesley (Vainikolo) was running through and I thought he might go for his hat-trick, but he looked to be tiring so I made sure I hung around just in case - and it was worth my while.

"I had been reminded the night before by Radders (Lee Radford) that I hadn't scored yet and I faced the naked run, so it was good to get over that line."
