Museum features in BBC programme

From the Telegraph & Argus, first published Friday 22nd Feb 2002.

An award-winning Keighley museum has been hailed as the latest attraction to help boost Bradford's Capital of Culture bid. The BBC has been filming at the Museum of Rail Travel at Ingrow -- owned by the Vintage Carriages Trust (VCT) -- for a programme examining the work of renowned artist JMW Turner.

Included in the programme -- to be screened on BBC2 on March 17 -- is the famous painting Rain Steam and Speed, depicting a train travelling over Maindenhead Bridge. The VCT has been involved in a host of filming assignments over the years, and has provided carriages for more than 50 productions.

Paul Brookes, campaign manager for Bradford's Capital of Culture bid team, said: "It's great that the VCT in Keighley is able to represent Bradford and the district in this way. I am hoping that people will be able to get a glimpse of our vast cultural heritage, of which we can be rightly proud." Council leader Councillor Margaret Eaton said: "The VCT is yet another shining example of what Bradford has to offer in terms of cultural attractions and is indicative of why Bradford is a strong contender to win this prestigious accolade."
